Been trying to get rid of the blonde male groundhog living under my deck for 2 summers by using lots of things to make it unpleasant for him...but it didn't work. He loved it there and he was gonna stay. So I bought this Conibear 220 trap. I wish it had come with written instructions, but it didn't. This was the first time I'd ever used one so I had to watch a Youtube video to learn how to set it up. The morning after I got it I set it up where he comes out of his hole (it only had one entrance) and blocked any gaps around it.
He was smart. For several days he wouldn't go back to his den! My neighbor frequently stands in front of his garage and smokes and had a clear view of it. When I asked him what he saw, he said Blondie would run to the hole...stop short of it...and run back. Blondie did this several times, he knew something was up.
But sometime early yesterday morning he really wanted back in...and the Conibear 220 caught him and killed him.
My other neighbor saw me with Blondie in the trap and came over. We couldn't figure out how to get the trap off, but without watching a video of it we figured it out.
So, this is a great trap for groundhogs. It was a clean kill - no blood - and it looks like it worked quickly and efficiently!
